What's the idea?

Short answer: walk into the Downpatrick Prayer Room between 8am and 6pm on Monday-Wednesday 15-17 March. Have a look around, see what attracts your attention, and spend time in that part of the room. Express your joys and concerns to God, or just sit still for a while, listening to the music. When you want to, leave.

And now for the longer answer!

Something special happens when people pray non-stop in one place. You can be part of this 'passing the baton' during the St. Patrick's Festival in Downpatrick: come in after one person, then spend five minutes or a couple of hours in the prayer room, and after you someone else will pray.

The Downpatrick Prayer Room will be open for three whole days, which gives you plenty of opportunity to join in. The Prayer Room is registered with 24-7 Prayer Ireland - they share these thoughts...

"You can pray anywhere because God is everywhere, and God hears every word we pray - we cannot escape God's presence. And yet, as both scripture and our experience testifies, there are times when our everywhere-God is somewhere... it's as if God is more here, somehow."
